I've tried a few cuttings but had zero success with them. It's not something I'm doing this year. Well, except for one accidental cutting. I have a number of mulberry seedlings in my yard. I decided to collect them. In the process of collecting one from a somewhat difficult location, I managed to cut it off below the soil line but above the root system. So I decided to see if I could get it to go anywhere as a cutting. It didn't look very happy this morning, though.
I have a rather larger mulberry that I'm taking air layers off of. The first one, which I did last year, was a great success (as an air layer; whether or not as a bonsai we'll have to see). I plan to take a couple more this year, and I'm thinking of doing a mulberry forest planting using the larger air-layered trees and the smaller collected trees.
