Graydon, Yep, these buggers are very obliging when it comes to cranking one in all different directions. The first time I saw one worked they were bending a trunk about as thick as your wrist. They of course were using some mechanical help, but still they did it without the slightest hint of a crack or pop. I was awe struck! Which in turn made me want to try it.

John, regarding scarring tissue for a faster set. Care to share Harold Sasaki technique? I have contemplated doing so, and actually have on small branches. The problem I run into is that on trunks I wrap with raffia 90% of the time to preserve the bark. So with out being able to see a notch line up together or having raffia get into the tissue when its bent. I have shy-ed away from that. I guess the other alternative would be to cut the raffia and then scar, which might make using the raffia a bit difficult.
So your insight into this would be appreciated.
