As it turns out his name is among at least a half of a dozen of names named on invoices for bringing the Chinese Chestnut to America and distributing it throughout the north east hence the chestnut blight. I guess if had to happen and he had a hand in it at least he left us the plumcott to enjoy and think about things for a while.

And while he didn't create it,he
did introduce the "Krauter" Vesuvius plum.Anybody else here use one as a bonsai ? Mine is only partially shaped after six years.It still has a big area to be filled in.
