Luther Burbank is indeed an interesting character. He didn't start plant breeding until he was an older gentleman. Like wise this quote is fitting since he is at least unwittingly and partially responsible for importing chestnut blight from China.

As it turns out his name is among at least a half of a dozen of names named on invoices for bringing the Chinese Chestnut to America and distributing it throughout the north east hence the chestnut blight. I guess if had to happen and he had a hand in it at least he left us the plumcott to enjoy and think about things for a while.
