Hi,
It sounds as if importing Japanese bonsai into the USA is a difficult and expenseive business. From what I understand, the white bark of the beech turns white after a good number of years. But I don't know how many years. I think the nearest equivalant that we have in terms of bark colour in the UK, is the silver birch. They have light coloured bark, but not to the same degree of whiteness as the Japanese beeches.
Heres a couple of photos of my new purchase. I bought it not for the tree it is now, but for the tree it can become with a bit of care and a lot of luck.
