Great. Your last post is just what I needed. I was lost for a bit of direction and now it's clear. Thank you.

I'm talking about the larch below that I collected from the wild with Wessel last year. It's about 60cm tall - that's a 40cm training pot it's in. It has some thick branches which are way too thick - but have buds very close to the trunk. So I can directly try the technique you describe.
