Sorry, my error, most not have been clear. I have two Larch. Both were alive an well last fall. The larger tree I have owned for several years. The smaller tree was just obtained in the fall and I had thought of combining it with the first. I ran my idea past David Easterbrook (Montreal Botanic Gardens etc) and we designed a plan. Now the spring is coming and I have the problem listed above.

The reason for the design change...two individual trees becoming one, was a choice I made so as to improve them both by addition.
