Down here in Oz the fable is to stick Japanese maples in the refridgerator at night for ten nights in a row and everyday put them back outside!!!!!

They think it works and produces great results in autumn.

Makes sense if you think about the conditions.

BTW I loved some of the trees on display. Very awesome. Was this pine the main attraction of the show.
