I was at a hotel for a wedding recently and found a tree in their courtyard which intrigued me greatly. It was a conifer, however, the "leaf" structure was very two dimensional. To explain the needles were in two rows opposite each other on the stem. A cutaway or end on view would look like this ---o---. The other curiosity was the bark which looked like birch or something very deciduous and papery. I picked a leaf but accidentally washed it before I could scan it and show it here.
It was an excellent tree and I would like to know more.
