The Demo
In the evening I did a pot making demo for the regular club meeting night.
Although the weather was sure getting nasty outside we still had a good turnout.
I brought a rectangular pot with me I had previously made for them to raffle off. The first pictures are of that pot.
Then I made a pot using the same forms while they watched and I explained what I was doing and answered a lot of questions. Since I had a time limitation, about 2 1/4 hours before we had to leave the meeting hall, I had to plan a few shortcuts in the finishing of the top rails of the pot. I used a rool of clay around the top of the sides and tapped it into a rugged rail which matched the tapped design I also put on the bottom rail. This cut out over an hours time and gave me a very unusual rustic look.
Here are some pictures of the assembly of the pot that Bill took while I worked.
After I got the pot home I touched it up a bit and am drying it. I hope to post a picture of it here after final firing and glazing.
The first three pictures are cutting out the side pannels and feet from rolled out clay that was leather hard and scored around my patterns, and then assembling the side panels.
