Actually shovels are kind of useless in collecting from the ground in the forest too. I haven't used one in years.

I like the planting. Thought an old busted handle on the shovel, treated like a jin on a bonsai, would look kinda cool on this...

They are a blunt tool, aren't they? Good for digging post holes, cement work and mining The one I used for this planting has some splinters left--they don't show up well in the photo. I have a couple other broken shovels that may have the perfect "jin" to place in the ferrule.
