Chronicle Of Creating A Bonsai Tree And A Soccer Match (Not Bonsai Related)
Day 0 Bargain hunting.
I decided to look for a Juniper, a sure thing.
I visited the largest Juniper nursery in Israel, they have a few thousands trees in their fields and a few hundreds in their shop, of course it is not a pre bonsai nursery.
After two hours (and bleeding hands) I had found nothing!
Day 1 continuing bargain hunting
While driving back form a business meeting, I had noticed an old neglected nursery with a sign "Mature Trees for Sale".
I had stooped there while browsing, I had found many treasures the best of them was a very old Olive tree (what else
).
I asked the old guy there for the price, preparing my self for few hundreds NIS, well he asked for 50 NIS= $10.50!
I could bargain but I paid him the 50 NIS, I felt sorry for the old guy, it seems his business was very slow, if at all.
Now about Olive trees in Israel by law you must preserve mature trees even if they are in your own property.
So if you are building or changing the landscape you have to dig them out and transfer them, usually people sale them to landscape gardeners and nurseries.
My new tree was not grown form a seed at that nursery, it is a very old tree which had been grown somewhere else, as its trunk was broken it was left neglected waiting for me
