Here is my 2 cents. If you have a water softener. Split the supply line off to a feed so that you can obtain water that hasn't been softened. The sodium and calcium content in softened water ( at least mine ) is usally pretty high. Due to the salt being added to the softener, and we all know salt build up is a no-no.

I would also add that if you ever compare trees watered with rain water and ( in my case ) well water. There is a difference, not a knock you down slap myself on the forehead difference ... but a difference.
