Yes, in both cases, I take it the first photo, with painting, is form the pre-Munich collaboration?
I think what I needed was more linearity to offset the motion of the trunk. This balance was provided by the open length of the painting and even the postiion on the stand. The former shows that it does not take much to resolve the composition... The original still imparts that feeling to me- that center positioning on a roundish slab imparts an unresolved dynamic tension.
