Large Foemina Forest
Day one...In preperation of repotting a large foemina forest, the pot will have to be prepared. Today I prepared the large pot. The pot measures 32"x22"x3" and needs to have its drainage hole screened and some sticks mounted to hold all the numerous holdown wires needed when planting forests. The trees are very vigourous and need the wires a short time. They are mostly needed for placement of the trees during the design stages.
The screen I used is more rigid than the standard plastic canvas used for stitchery. This screen is very stiff and rigid and used for latch hook rugs and keeping leaves out of your gutter. The screen is held in place by standard hair pins and the sticks are supported by running additional wires thru the holes and tieing in the sticks and leaving the wires long for addtional tie wires. Tie wires were twisted onto the stick prior to tieing the sticks into the pot. I now have all the wires needed to hold the trees in while they grab hold with their own roots and placing the trees during styling. The angled sticks also hold pairs of wires and are there because the bulk of the main design will be on this end. The trees are larger here and so will need additional support.
...tomorrow...the trees and day two...
