Welcome to this forum! Podocarpus is a seldom seen yet great species for bonsai. When I look at your plan view of this tree, the second thumb you posted appears to be the best front for this tree, as the trunk arcs out to embrace the viewer. I would gradually chase the upward pointing branches back in towards the trunk and leave the cascading branch alone. Have you ever tried wiring this tree? I think you could fix the "messy" appearance of the tree by wiring every branch and echo the flow of the trunk as it emerges from the pot and spills out to the left
