i think the option you were thinking of is quite good. Firstly, it has a very distinct shape which i think that the design you were thinking of will be possible and achievable. Having only been doing bonsai for 1 year and only have 1 juniper i am not saying that my advice is expert advice but from experience, i think it is best to wait and see how it goes, you will be suprised what shape it may take, direction it may grow.

I think wait until next fall or even dont rush in straight away (take it slowly and give it one more spring so you have more to work with) that way you wont have to unwire it shortly after wiring. I am in Aust. and in spring because of the climate my juniper grew like crazy.

I definitely think that what u were thinkin of is a smart move. I would be interested to see its progress!
