Larch - new styling idea
Dear friends,
As I started in 1997, after buying a bonsaibook, written by German Bonsaiist Werner M. Busch, I didn't knew nothing about bonsai. I collected back than 5 seedlings of 1-4 years old. 3 Larches, 1 Douglas Fir and 1 Scottish Pine. Every spring they were taken' out of the garden en put into a normal flowerpot in a mixture of sand and containersoil. In autumm they were put back in the garden again, to overwinter. I didn't feed them, only cut the roots in spring and pruned all season round.
Thats the way this Larch was treated for the first 6/7 years of its 10 years life. The tree is 38 cm high and was initially styled in a formal upright. But there were 3 branches comming out on almost the same height, where the backbranch was cut early this year, I was left with 2 opposite branches. It looked like a steering wheel. One of the branches also had a strange knob, so after thinking about it and looking at it for the last 3-4 months, I decided to cut that right branch too. My idea is to build the tree up, using the left branch for caracter and build the top up, cone shaped. I've tried to make a virtual about my idea in paint (must confess , I'm not good in these things) Don't mind the shape and colour of the pot I've drawn, it can obviously be changed.
Hope this one is going in the right direction, but feel free to comment.
Every thoughts you have will be appreciated.
Thanks, Wessel
