I live in northwest Indiana so our weather is somewhat similar. What works for me is moving my large display stand
into my garage. I tent the stand (its an A frame shape) in
heavy duty plastic. Inside go all my trees and a thermestaticly
controlled lightbulb (150w for the volume of space in my case). This has worked for me for as I have never lost a tree
to winter. What ever you do don't bring your tree into the
house for that would surely kill it. Hope this helps.
