I visited Vietnam two months ago and they have Desert Roses everywhere; in regular pots and trained as bonsai. I talked to some people and they tell me that Desert Roses love the sun and hot weather. If the weather is hot, humid, and sunny enough, it may bloom for many months. If it gets too cold, it will go through the trauma of loosing its leaves but will recover as soon as it gets warm again, or a combination of sun and not-so-cold temperatures. When cutting a branch, clean the cutting tools and wash your hands because, as said above, the sap is poisonous to other plants and humans. If you cut a branch and you expect a lot of rain then seal the wound as it may rot.
