Plant it in the ground, you won't believe how fast it will grow. It will shoot up to 6' tall this year, and the leaves will enlarge to 2" long. Sounds bad, doesn't it? But it will regain it's health, and the trunk will get thicker. After a few years it can be chopped way back, and you can go from there.
