This rose is a rose in a bonsai pot, not a bonsai rose. It is an estimated 75 years old, and stays the same size because with roses, the canes are cut each year and regrow. There are no leaf reduction attempts that he shared with me. I would imagine that it is what it is, and should be enjoyed at face value. He is not trying to develop it into anything. The larger task is preserving it's life after so long, and identifying the particular variety, which he has not been able to do so far.
