Nothing really feels totally right yet, but I think a bowl shape might be preferable over a straight sided drum pot. The slanted sides seem to compliments the direction of the trunk a bit more.

Stefan, you've done very good virtual work. I agree that a straight sided pot doesn't work well here. Of all the pots, I particularly like the Dale pot thats on the right. The movement of the glaze seem to work with the movement of the trunk.
