My wife watched a tree rat last night burying something in one of my willow pots. Of course she said they were "too cute" to stop. I'm thinking about lining my growing area with barbed wire, and perhaps putting up an electric fence inside that, to stop these dang things from digging up my cuttings.
Anything on a table is dug up by a tree-rat, anything on the ground is eaten by a long-eared hopping demon. A quince in the ground I'd left to thicken up was completely defoliated the other day... all that was left was a few scraps on the ground.
