What I decided to do was to heavily slant the trunk to the left and make a Han-kengai from the tree. The jinned trunk now moves in a flowing direction with the foliage and the straight portion of the trunk seems less noticable. The apex of the jin now poiints skyward while the live apex points in the same direction.

In the previous position the jin was nearly horizontal and was always going to seem disconnected from the live portion.

The final shot is a virtual of one possibility in the near future.

Any other ideas?
