Three branches are fine, but just remember that the cascade should only be on one side and that you need to remember to use the scalene triangle as a guideline to your design. So, if the main branch cascades to the right, then have one branch form the apex slightly of center and have a smaller branch on the "weak" side that is above the soil level and shorter.
