Biased and judgmental?
Have you ever read anything about the business of art?
Without exception, the patrons of art are the ones who pay the real money for any work of art. And the patrons are NOT the artists.
How many works of art did Michelangelo purchased for himself? Or Picasso?
I thought they were selling art, not buying.
Or look at the bonsai business in Japan: How many hours do the bonsai patrons spend on wiring, pruning, or watching demos? None, they either want to enjoy bonsai, or use them as investments. The artist or gardeners are the ones doing the work for them.
This is the challenge here in the West. If you ever want to increase the consumer base of bonsai, you have to include those who enjoy bonsai, but not necessarily aspire to become artists or craftsmen.
