candles

Hi Jorge,

I'm not real sure whether the growth on podocarpus are actually candles as in pine candles. At any rate, whether to cut them off or leave them is based on what you want that particular shoot to do.If you want to strengthen the branch, let it grow and then prune later.Podocarpus are pretty good at backbudding. If you are looking to increase ramification behind the "candle" or trying to maintain the sillouette, clip it now.

I would leave the ones on the cascading part as they will serve to strengthen and thicken that part......that is a REAL generalisation ....if you are satisfied with the development of the cascading part, then treat them the same as the rest.At some point, though, you will probably have to give the cascading part some different treatment in order to keep it growing strongly.
