Well, Will has done many very, very good things for this and the other ventures he is involved with. I don't believe it was because of the good things he did that he is no longer here. His work on AOB and his written pieces are interesting.
The concept of isolating the "art" component of Bonsai from the horticultural aspects can be very useful in helping folks to elucidate the underlying concepts of trees design. However, in the end, bonsai is a tree in a tray/pot. Some of us perhaps focus too much on horticulture, and not enough on the art. Will has certainly (along with Andy Rutledge and others) stressed that aspect of bonsai.
Bonsai Today needs to do something, the reduction in quality of material presented over the past few years is quite apparent. Propagating a new cadre of writers and editors will be paramount if they are to achieve the 200th publication.
