Well, I was just going by the darkness of the soil in the picture. Usually wet peat moss looks that dark. Cactus mix is much better draining, so very good!

I'm in Southern California. Much of your native plant life grows well here... olives, grapes, etc. We stay between a high of 85 degrees F (29.4 C) in the summer, and a low of 40 degrees F (4.44 C) in the winter, with very few exceptions. We have an ocean breeze most of the time, but not much rainfall.
