Tiny white balls in a cotton-like fuzz
I currently own a bonzai - a deciduous tree. Don't remember the name of it. I am having some problems with it. There is tiny white balls in a cotton-like fuzz in various places under some of the moss I have around the bonzai. I don't know what it is? There is also a crystals (looks like tiny clumps of dried salt) around the trunk of the bonzai and on some of the moss. I thought it may be our water - I had it tested and is fine. I have shaped the tree with wire, pruned it (yearly) and watered when the soil felt dry - never no bugs. Some of the leaves are dying, blooming, and some new ones are even budding. It seems fine when looking at it from 2 to 3 feet. But lift up the moss and you have this cotton-like fuzz with tiny whtie balls.
Is this cotton-like fuzz with the tiny balls normal or a disease? Is the soil bad? I lost 2 juniper within 6 months and I don't want to lose another bonzai. Please help.
