Airlayering a Black Olive

I just notice that near my apartment there is a 13' black olive, wich is good because I can get new trees from there.
I was looking on the internet how much care I should take on a airlayer on this tree. What I found is that this tree is hard to propagate, no hard wood cuttings and a small posibilty of softwood cuttings, that are no bigger than 2 inches.
I just never founded anything about airlayers, wich is unconforting because is looks that the only ways is softwood cutting or seeds.
That would be like 8 years to get a nice and thick trunk tree.

Had someone made an airlayer on this type of tree? How it goes? How much care?

Aditional question: black olive are fast or low growing trees?

Thanks for the help
