Schley's Bonsai Beginners Workshop
Just wanted to give Jason Scheley and his bonsai nursery two thumbs up! To me this was a very rewarding learning experience and for sure an event I will remember.
I drove 100 miles to get to Scheley's Bonsai in Daytona, Florida, but in my mind, every mile and every minute I spent there was worth it. I met Jason (Daytona) through RedPine who suggested I should visit him and check his nursery out; thanks RedPine.
The beginners class included all the tools needed to get started with bonsai (which you get to take home) a starter tree (which my girlfriend and I upgraded), a ceramic unglazed pot, soil, all the wire you can smuggle on your tree, and of course Jason's lessons and guidance for a whole day. The show even included Jason trapping a not-so-friendly raccoon. On top of everything you get coffee, donuts, pizza. I am not going to mention prize, but it is the best bang for the buck I've ever got when it comes to bonsai. You can check prizes in Jason's upcoming events:

During this class I worked on a Parsoni Juniper, and my girlfriend worked (style only) on a Black Olive.
I signed up for next month's special event which will include a visiting master, a 21" white marble slab, rocks, and the Chinese elms needed to build a Penjing.
