Sorry - maybe I wasn't clear enough.

A rooted cutting is by definition not "healthy and vigorous." The idea is to get it healthy and vigorous, and then prune hard.

That process of getting healthy and vigorous would take at least one year in good soil if you're really dealing with a rooted cutting; more likely two years.
