I have 2 other japanese maples and they are doing fine in fact they are starting to bud out, as the weather here has been odd. Today the temp was 71 and tomorrow is is supose to be 71 again but then saturday the temp is suppose to drop to the 40 or 50's, i just don't understand what could have happened to it. any help will be greatly appericated.

When you repotted it what did the roots look like? Did they smell kind of like sewage? How wet or dry was the soil ball?

I know you want answers not questions, but you are not going to be able to get anything but guesses unless you are willing to answer questions. These would be the questions I would be asking myslef if faced with a similar problem.
