Roof Top Gardens

Here is a curiosity.

Last year I decided to leave my pursuit of winemaking to instead attempt to go to law school. I still enjoy growing things, but I am somewhat dissappointed that my new direction will likely take me away from Bonsai.

I while waiting to hear back from schools I've been wondering what to do with my small collection. all the school I applied to are in urban areas, and likely the best job prospects are there as well. After years of living in suburbs, and in the southwest I'm quite tired of driving for an hour to get anywhere to do anything. I'm welcoming the opportunity of urban living.

Since I would be limited in space, has anyone had any experience with roof-top gardening.

Obviously the prospects are limited by constraints in space, the absence of soil in which to plant a tree in ground, and complete exposure to sun, or limited exposure due to other buildings.

I'd like to start a discussion around the prospects and potential difficulties of growing bonsai in the urban environment, on a roof top.

any thoughts are welcome.
