Hi Wayne, welcome from England too. I'd say your tree is an Ulmus Parvifolia, a Chinese Elm. They make great starter trees', however that one looks very comercially produced! Your tree should be quite easy to care for, you will be able to learn and practise how to prune deciduous trees' when you feel that you want to move on with the hobby. The care of your tree will be different from an Ash so good luck!
