You bring up several valid points, the stone is likely not nice enough to bring all the attention to it alone. There is a problem of the branch crossing on front though. This does give depth but when viewed in person keeps you eye from moving up the tree. I have looked closely and the stone could be cut to solve this problem.
I think that when the proper container is selected that, the tree stone and container will work in harmony. The containers already posted by others here are okay for the shape now. When the branch is removed and put into a much smaller container the general shape will be more vertical and have less low horizontal mass.
I think a round, octangal, lotus or scallop shaped container may be best. I am away from my home computer or I would post containers.
