First, I never suggested Diazinon or "Raid for Ants". I do speak from personal experience...... I use Cygon, malathion and Kelthane on my Fukies all the time. They show absolutely NO adverse affects from them and these things work. I have tried some of the "soaps" and other organics. For persistant bug problems these didn't work for me. The products I named do work very well, very quickly. In the long run, you have to see what works best for you but my fukies are very healthy. It goes without saying that one has to be responsible and not over use them or be careless with them but if you can read and follow directions, you should be ok.
