Uses for a dead bonsai

I have just lost my second bonsai this year ( still in upset over Swampcypress…sob).

This one is,nt so bad as I have two more pine bonsai. But it does seem very strange that it should die because the others were planted at the same time from seed (courtesy of a local school) & it was looked after exactly the same as the others.

This is where I now point out that my hubby has just got back into sculpting & painting miniature pre 18th century soldiers. He has won awards in the past for many of his figures

& it’s a lot cheaper than the other hobby..Astronomy

Now here’s where I’ve got a bit suspicious because he just happened to ask me if I had any dead bonsais for his diorama.

Those of you who are easily upset look away….He cuts the trunk off so there,s only an inch or two left & leaves some of the roots exposed !

As I look on in horror he tells me “You won’t forget that one now”

And yes there are some old dioramas with my dead bonsai on.
