Hey Min, sorry for the bad joke.

Getting back on topic, in the May 99 issueof "The art of bonsai magazine" there is an article on growing unusual bonsai.

A lot of '"The art of Bonsai" articles are now on the net, here is a link to Unusual Bonsai

In particular I like the idea of the fallen cone/hundred tree. Basically this consists of a big bunch of seeds all left to germinate close together (but if you followed the link you will know that!).

I intend to try the idea next spring with a wide variety of seeds. Rowan, Beech, Blackthorn, Hawthorn and birch all germinate fairly easily, and are indigeneous.

Just for fun I tried the horse chestnuts last spring. It worked, sort of, although horse chestnuts are obviously rather coarse for small forests. It did get my 8 year old son briefly away from the nintendo as he kept watching out for new shoots.
