autographed items only hold a value on the market if they are not personalized. ask the artist to write To (your name) and then sign it and it is worth nothing to anyone else. i learned that with baseball(s). most people who's autograph is sought after will do that because they don't want to lose the profit, ie. autograph signings at which you pay a fee, then they still fill it out to you so there is no resale interest.
