Hi,
I use Lime Sulphur mixed with a little white latex paint to treat my jins and shari. I know that lots of other people do that too....the lime sulphur, of course, preserves the wood from rot, and the bit of white paint makes the wood whiter.....some in Japan refer to jin and shari as "Buddha's bones".
Look in the "forum" and at "Robert's Gallery"....and you'll see my trees which have been treated this way....especially the Olive raft and the Pfitzer Junipers......although i do this will all my trees.
