Great series, very informative. Our club collected Canyon Live Oak yesterday and mine is similar in size to your hawthorn. After viewing your pics I may have to get out the loppers and be a little more aggressive on the branches. I plant collected trees in a growing bed for the first two years - they seem to appreciate the constant moist ground at a stable temperature.
