I was tempted to chirp in about the white fungus being beneficial, but i've never kept ficus so don't know. If it is, don't be alarmed, it iss a beneficial michoriza that helps the tree by breaking down organic matter in the soil, releasing the nutrients which the tree can utilise. Bearing in mind, trees are organic matter aswell so the fungus could be eating away at your roots! lol. I doubt it though.

And as for the continued growth of your tropicals, it's fine. Indoors you provide a prety constant environment for your trees to grow in. They won't go fully dormant as the temperature and light they recieve will be similar all year round.

I'm going to join in with the "welcome to my part of the world" as i'm in Telford and it aint that far away.
