A very interesting idea.... Without the branch the curve in the trunk is very focused upon. The trunk line seems to really stand out. and like you said more movement

I'm a bid concerned with the effect of making the trunk "look thinner" and a less of a mature tree. Maybe this is its feature in a few years when the trunk thickens
