When I was new to Bonsai I could not bring myself to cut any branches off at all! My first experience of taking a tree full of lush growth and beutiful branches to bonsai class and coming home with a stump was quite traumatic I thought those guys were crazy.Now three years later when I get a tree I remove just about everything in the knowledge that in twelve months time I will have the beginings of beutifully shaped pruned and wired branches instead of straight sticks poking skyward.The reason I start a tree today is not so I can have a Bonsai today but so I can have one in three years time.
