1) A trunk jack. A very good tool for beding thicker trunks and branches although care must be taken to assure that the center piece doesn't cut into the bark. This design flaw can be fixed by adding padding between it and the contact point.

2) A Tanto knife. Holds a great edge and is very strong. Great for those bigger jobs and excellent for discouraging workshop people from asking to borrow your tools.
