digging deeper
Let me preface this with a disclaimer....this is a nice tree, and as someone who grows many ficus i have to say that this is as good a bonsai as any of my trees,so i hope y'all don't jump on me for being overly critical. But there are some things that i notice could be improved.
1....the 2 main trunks seem to be almost a slingshot configuration and are essentially the same size.
2....the nebari is a good start but notice how they are not fused at all. They look immature.
3....the ramification is lacking...too much fresh new "long" growth with little (or atleast invisible secondary and tertiary branching).
4....The upper branch on the left seems to have little taper and looks awkward to me...maybe it's the effect of veiwing it in 2-D.
I think all of these "faults"(with the exception of the slingshot) can probably be fixed with time and good care....and maybe a little camoflouge.
I'm not sure about the trunks..I would think that a drastic pruning of either one would ruin the trees shape..so it may be something the artist has to live with.
I agree with Ash and the others that the right branch needs a little trim..and if it were mine,I would extend the upper branching out just a bit.
respectfully,
andy
