eglwyseg; looking for inspiration.

I feel quite fortunate to live near the welsh hills and mountains and this morning i took advantage of this and headed out to near eglwyseg which is a large vein of carboniferous limestone that is north of llangollen and flanks ruabon mountain. it is popular with climbers, fossil hunters and was once mined for lead and silver. it is only thirty minutes from home and today i went hunting for inspiration for bonsai in the rock grown style. A few of my root over rock trees in training are over some really nice hard detailed limestone from this area. this first pic is of the vein as you approach, please note the ruins of the 13th century castel dinas bran on the hill on the left.
